SAMPLE REMEDY: Infusion for Falling Asleep

He huan hua (albizzia flower) helps calm the Shen to prepare for falling asleep. Long yan rou (longan berry) assists He huan hua in calming Shen and building Blood. Together, they help with overthinking and worrying so they do not keep you from drifting off to sleep. Add this formula to a nightly sleep routine to maximize its effectiveness.

MAKES 1 CUP

1. Place the He huan hua and Long yan rou in a large mug.

2. Boil the water and pour it over the herbs. Cover and steep for 15 to 20 minutes.

3. Strain and drink up to 2 times in the evening. If one cup a half hour before bedtime doesn’t help, add a second cup between dinner and bedtime. If you like, you can also eat the Long yan rou after they’ve steeped.
